Job Description
The Senior Legal Officer – Litigation will report directly to the Legal Manager – Litigation and will be based at the Head Office. The role entails representing the bank in court and legal forums, working closely with external legal counsel, advising the bank on legal issues including customer disputes and credit-related matters, and handling recovery of non-performing and written-off loans. The officer will also be responsible for reviewing legal documents, responding to legal notices, and advising the board and management on legal risks and obligations.

How to Apply
Represent the bank in courts of law and legal forums
Coordinate and monitor performance of external legal counsel
Prepare and review contracts and other legal documents
Draft and respond to legal notices and advise on legal action
Handle legal recovery of written-off and non-performing loans
Provide legal advice on banking and credit services
Advise management and the Board on legal matters upon instruction
Review legal documentation for credit facilities and ensure enforceability
Recommend changes to external counsel’s remuneration when necessary
Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor

Bachelor’s Degree in Law
Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Centre
At least 3 years of legal practice experience in a financial institution or law firm
Valid and up-to-date practicing certificate
Strong communication, contract negotiation, and drafting skills
Ability to develop policies and ensure regulatory compliance
Capacity to work with diverse stakeholders and client base
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proven integrity and professional ethics
Ability to work under pressure and handle complex legal matters
Strong decision-making skills under uncertainty
