Job Description
The Senior Android Developer will be responsible for the full life cycle of Android application development—from design through deployment. You will play a critical role in shaping the user experience of Carbon’s mobile apps, mentor other developers, and collaborate with cross-functional teams including QA, product, and backend engineers. This role also requires strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to a dynamic, fast-paced environment while contributing to Carbon’s mission of financial innovation.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Lead the development and improvement of Android applications for a variety of devices
Produce and review technical designs, ensuring best practices in Android development
Mentor junior developers and uphold a culture of clean, efficient, and maintainable code
Collaborate with the QA team to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues
Ensure all applications meet performance, security, and usability standards
Keep up with Android trends and integrate innovative solutions to enhance app functionality

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
Minimum of 4 years of Android development experience
Proven experience developing and publishing native Android apps using Java (mandatory) and Kotlin
Proficiency with Android SDKs, Firebase SDKs, and mobile development best practices
Strong knowledge of RESTful APIs, JSON, and Android architecture components
Familiarity with the complete mobile development lifecycle
Experience with components like Activities, Fragments, Services, Intents, Broadcast Receivers, etc.
Ability to meet tight deadlines and thrive in a high-speed environment
Additional (Desirable) Skills:
Experience with backend languages
Familiarity with UX/UI tools like Figma, Adobe XD, or InVision
Knowledge of GIT and CI/CD pipelines
Test-Driven Development and Agile methodologies
Prior experience in fintech or mobile financial applications
Overall 5+ years of software development experience
