Job Description
The intern will work under the supervision of the SAU Lead, supporting the analytical and research functions of the unit. Key responsibilities include conducting research, supporting report writing and editing, managing sensitive data, and assisting in the development of periodic and bespoke assessments on political and security trends across Sub-Saharan Africa, Asia, and the Middle East. The internship is structured to provide mentoring from experienced analysts, allowing the intern to contribute meaningfully to high-level publications and internal intelligence briefs. The role will also involve participation in internal and external meetings and workshops.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Conduct research for the development of SAU routine and bespoke reports
Assist with data collection and integration for political and security risk assessments
Support the creation of tailored risk assessments for various regions
Maintain and update the SAU’s internal databases
Edit and proofread reports before dissemination
Attend relevant meetings, workshops, and presentations
Assist in the production of the Business Threat Intelligence (BTI) Report
Ensure operational and data security practices are followed
Perform additional tasks as assigned by the SAU Lead
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in International Relations, Political Science, Conflict Studies, Law, or related field (required)
Master’s Degree (completed or in progress) in Peace and Conflict Studies, Public Policy, or a related area (advantageous)
Skills and Competencies:
Excellent written English and editing abilities
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher
Knowledge of political/security risk analysis methodology
Languages:
Fluency in English (written and spoken)
Proficiency in Arabic and/or French is an added advantage
