Job Description
The Safety Officer will develop and update OHS policies and programmes, advise leaders and staff on safety topics (e.g., noise, machinery use), conduct risk assessments and inspections, and enforce preventive measures. The role organises safety training and drills, oversees safe installations/maintenance and hazardous substance control, stops unsafe acts, investigates incidents and manages workers’ compensation processes. The officer prepares periodic HSE reports with statistics and recommendations for management and ensures policies reflect current legislation and best practice.

How to Apply
Develop, implement and improve OHS policies, procedures and programmes.
Advise and instruct staff on safety topics (noise levels, PPE, machinery use).
Conduct risk assessments, inspections and audits; enforce preventive controls.
Review and update safety measures in line with legislation and standards.
Plan and deliver OHS training for employees and executives.
Oversee safe installations, maintenance and disposal of substances/equipment.
Stop unsafe acts/processes and escalate as required.
Record and investigate incidents/near-misses; determine root causes; manage workers’ compensation claims.
Prepare management reports and safety statistics; track trends and actions to closure.
Experience: 2+ years in a Safety/OHS role.
Knowledge: In-depth understanding of OHS legislation and procedures (e.g., OSHA/EPA and applicable local requirements); hazardous materials/practices.
Skills: Report and policy writing; data analysis and statistical reporting; MS Office proficiency; strong organisation, diligence and attention to detail; ability to influence safe behaviours.
