Job Description
As a Rust Engineer at PropellerHeads, you will spend 90% of your time working in Rust, with occasional tasks in Solidity and Python. You will join a small, independent team of four engineers where the focus is on building high-quality, elegant systems without unnecessary distractions. This role requires curiosity, technical excellence, and a drive to push the boundaries of decentralized trading. You will help improve Tycho, which already powers 20% of auction flow in the DeFi space, and contribute to its continued growth.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Design, implement, and optimize Rust-based systems for decentralized trading.
Contribute to the Tycho library for indexing, simulating, and encoding trades.
Collaborate with a small team to deliver high-performance, production-ready code.
Occasionally work with Solidity and Python for supporting tools and integrations.
Maintain a high standard of software quality, testing, and documentation.
Continuously research, learn, and apply cutting-edge techniques in DeFi infrastructure.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Required:
Solid experience with Rust or deep experience in another typed language (C/C++/Go).
Strong software design and system implementation skills.
Ability to work independently in a small, remote-first team.
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
Availability within ±4–5h of CET.
Preferred:
Familiarity with decentralized finance (DeFi), DEX trading, or blockchain protocols.
Exposure to Solidity and Python.
Experience building scalable, open-source libraries or financial infrastructure.
