Investigating complaints, accidents, or incidents related to road conditions and infrastructure, and recommending corrective measures to prevent recurrence.

  • Generating inspection reports detailing the condition of roads and infrastructure, highlighting any deficiencies or maintenance needs, and recommending corrective actions.

  • Communicating inspection results to relevant stakeholders, such as government agencies, engineering teams, contractors, and maintenance crews.


Compliance and Regulation:

  • Ensuring that roads and transportation infrastructure comply with relevant laws, regulations, codes, and standards, such as those pertaining to safety, accessibility, and environmental protection.

  • Monitoring construction and maintenance activities to verify compliance with approved plans, specifications, and contractual requirements.

  • Investigating complaints, accidents, or incidents related to road conditions and infrastructure, and recommending corrective measures to prevent recurrence.


Quality Assurance and Control:

  • Conducting quality assurance checks on construction materials, such as asphalt, concrete, and aggregates, to verify compliance with specifications and standards.

  • Performing field tests and measurements, such as pavement density testing and compaction testing, to ensure the quality and durability of road surfaces.

  • Collaborating with engineering teams, contractors, and suppliers to address quality issues and implement corrective actions as needed.


Safety and Risk Management:

  • Identifying safety hazards and risks associated with road construction, maintenance, and operations, and recommending measures to mitigate or eliminate them.

  • Promoting safe work practices and adherence to safety protocols among construction crews, maintenance personnel, and other stakeholders.

  • Investigating accidents, incidents, or near misses involving road infrastructure and recommending improvements to enhance safety.

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is typically required, although some positions may prefer candidates with post-secondary education in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field.

  • Additional training or certification in road inspection, construction inspection, or traffic safety may be beneficial.


Experience:

  • Previous experience in road construction, maintenance, or inspection is often required, preferably in a similar role with a government agency, engineering firm, or transportation authority.

  • Familiarity with construction methods, materials, and equipment used in road infrastructure projects is desirable.


Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in using tools and equipment for road inspection, such as measuring devices, surveying instruments, and testing equipment.

  • Knowledge of relevant software applications for data collection, documentation, and reporting, such as GIS (Geographic Information Systems) or inspection management systems.

  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Abilities:


  • Strong analytical skills to assess road conditions, interpret technical data, and identify potential issues or safety hazards.

  • Ability to troubleshoot problems, evaluate options, and make sound decisions under pressure.


Communication and Interpersonal Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey inspection findings, write reports, and interact professionally with colleagues, contractors, and stakeholders.
