Job Description
The Research Assistant will play a vital role in conducting field research, engaging with participants, and ensuring the integrity of data collected. They will be responsible for qualitative and quantitative data collection, assisting in project coordination, and supporting research meetings and workshops. The role also includes maintaining research equipment and supplies while adhering to safety and ethical research standards.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Field Research & Data Collection:
Travel to field sites to recruit participants and obtain informed consent
Collect qualitative and quantitative data, ensuring accuracy and ethical compliance
Data Management:
Review, edit, and compile research data
Follow up on data-related issues to maintain data integrity
Interviews & Engagement:
Conduct face-to-face and telephone interviews
Engage with clinical and community partners in research efforts
Project Coordination:
Assist in the preparation of research materials, reports, and presentations
Meetings & Workshops:
Support planning and attend research meetings, seminars, and training workshops
Equipment & Supplies Management:
Request, maintain, and ensure proper use of research tools and materials
Training & Compliance:
Undergo training on research ethics, data collection, and best practices

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Degree, diploma, or certificate from an accredited medical institution
Qualified Nurse, Midwife, or Clinical Officer (one year of clinical experience is an advantage)
At least one year of experience in clinical research, including data collection and interviews
Proficiency in English and Swahili (both written and spoken)
Strong attention to detail, critical thinking, and adherence to high-quality standards
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.)
Ability to maintain safety and infection control standards
Strong teamwork, planning, and organizational skills
Experience in both qualitative and quantitative data collection methods
