The IRC provides vital support to Ugandans rebuilding from decades of war while also hosting refugees from South Sudan and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

In 2002, the IRC expanded to the conflict-affected Karamoja region and started working with refugees in Kampala in 2011. Following the South Sudanese refugee influx in 2015, the IRC scaled up its response in the West Nile region.
