Reconciliation & Settlement Officer
Location: Kampala, Uganda
Organization: Interswitch Uganda
Function: IT & Operations
Reports to: Manager – Scheme Management
Job Purpose
The Reconciliation & Settlement Officer is responsible for verifying, managing, and reconciling customer transactions within Interswitch systems to detect and minimize revenue leakages. The role also includes managing the dispute management framework for interbank switching transactions to ensure accuracy, compliance, and operational efficiency.

How to Apply
1. Transaction Reconciliation
Match and reconcile financial transactions between internal systems and external institutions (banks, payment processors, clearing houses, etc.).
Identify, investigate, and resolve transaction discrepancies promptly.
2. Data Analysis
Analyze financial data to identify trends, anomalies, and potential errors.
Utilize data analytics tools to improve reconciliation accuracy and efficiency.
Maintain a detailed record of potential and actual revenue leakages.
3. Documentation & Reporting
Maintain comprehensive records of all reconciliation and settlement activities.
Prepare timely reports summarizing reconciliation outcomes for management and regulatory use.
4. Issue Resolution
Investigate and resolve settlement or reconciliation discrepancies.
Collaborate with internal teams, external partners, and relevant stakeholders to ensure timely resolution of issues.
5. Compliance & Regulation
Ensure all reconciliation and settlement activities comply with company policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
Stay up-to-date on relevant financial regulations and compliance updates.
6. Automated Reconciliation
Implement and maintain automated reconciliation systems to improve accuracy and reduce manual errors.
Monitor performance and recommend improvements to automation processes.
7. Communication & Collaboration
Coordinate with Finance, Operations, and IT departments to ensure smooth reconciliation processes.
Provide regular updates to management on reconciliation status, findings, and corrective actions.
8. Risk Management
Identify and assess risks related to reconciliation and settlement operations.
Develop and implement strategies to minimize financial and operational risks.
9. Continuous Improvement
Identify and recommend process enhancements to improve efficiency and accuracy.
Share best practices and contribute to system and workflow improvements.
10. Customer Support
Respond to client inquiries related to settlements and reconciliation issues.
Ensure timely and professional handling of customer concerns to maintain satisfaction.
11. Other Duties
Perform any additional tasks assigned by management to support departmental goals.
Bachelor’s degree in any relevant discipline.
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in data analytics, reconciliation, or a related financial operations role.
Key Competencies
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
Good understanding of regulatory and compliance standards in financial services.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Collaborative team player with a customer-focused approach.
Proficiency in using reconciliation and data analysis tools.
