Job Description
The Rebuild Fitter will carry out mechanical repairs, troubleshooting, and overhaul tasks on underground mining machinery. They will support the maintenance team in planning and executing scheduled and emergency maintenance works while adhering to strict safety and operational guidelines. Responsibilities include coordinating maintenance priorities, conducting risk assessments, ensuring safe work practices, supervising junior staff, monitoring costs, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives. The role supports the mine’s strategic maintenance plan and is essential to reducing downtime and maximizing equipment lifecycle.

How to Apply
Conduct repairs, diagnostics, and rebuilds on underground mobile mining equipment
Perform routine inspections and fault finding
Ensure equipment is maintained to required safety and performance standards
Plan and execute maintenance schedules in line with mine operational needs
Supervise, mentor, and train national maintenance personnel
Maintain maintenance performance reporting and compliance standards
Support building capacity and nationalization of the maintenance team
Monitor maintenance costs and ensure budget compliance
Conduct Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) and Field Level Risk Assessments (FLRA)
Promote strong safety culture and ensure adherence to company HSE policies
Participate in accident investigations and new employee inductions
Ensure timely and efficient repair of equipment to minimize downtime
Qualifications
Mechanical trade qualification or Technician Certificate from a recognized institution
Mechanical Trade Certification (highly desirable)
Experience
Minimum 8 years’ experience in mechanical fitting and underground mining equipment maintenance
Strong track record in rebuilds and servicing of underground machinery
Competencies
Excellent understanding of safety procedures and hazard management
Strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills
Computer literacy: MS Excel, Word, Access, Outlook
Strong communication skills (written & spoken English)
Ability to work with diverse teams
Valid driving competency
Strong commitment to safety and continuous improvement
