Job Description

The Purchasing Manager will be responsible for overseeing all procurement and sourcing activities within a manufacturing setup. The role requires engagement with internal stakeholders, management of vendor relationships, execution of strategic sourcing and cost-saving initiatives, and ensuring quality standards and timelines are met. The ideal candidate should be experienced in working with OEMs and inventory systems, possess a strong techno-commercial mindset, and demonstrate leadership capabilities in procurement operations.

Duties, Roles and Responsibilities

  • Possess fair knowledge of inventory items used in manufacturing.

  • Engage with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and relevant suppliers.

  • Facilitate the process from Purchase Requisition (PR) to Purchase Order (PO) to goods receipt.

  • Ensure adherence to technical specifications and quality standards.

  • Maintain strong supplier relationships and conduct regular supplier audits.

  • Handle techno-commercial responsibilities, including analytical planning of reorder levels.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet agreed lead and cycle times.

  • Drive innovation and alternative sourcing to improve cost efficiency.

  • Ensure suppliers meet their delivery commitments and timelines.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing/procurement environment.

  • Strong computer proficiency.

  • Deep understanding of procurement processes, sourcing strategies, contract negotiation, and vendor management.

  • Proven experience in managing and developing procurement teams.

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills.

  • Strong analytical skills with a techno-commercial orientation.

  • Demonstrated success in implementing cost-saving initiatives and strategic sourcing.
