Job Description
As part of the Eastern Africa Institutions Unit and Tanzania Country Team, the Public Sector Specialist will be based in Dar es Salaam and will contribute to strengthening public sector institutions and systems. The role will include conducting policy and operational dialogue, leading analytical and advisory work, and collaborating across sectors to improve service delivery and governance outcomes. The position also requires understanding political economy contexts and potentially supporting reforms in other countries within the unit’s scope.

How to Apply
Lead and support operational, advisory, and analytical tasks in governance and public administration.
Engage in policy dialogue with government counterparts to support institutional reforms.
Work collaboratively with other units to strengthen public sector systems for service delivery.
Provide advice and insights on political economy aspects of the Bank’s engagement.
Contribute to cross-country learning and support similar engagements in other countries as needed.
Build and maintain relationships with clients, development partners, and internal teams.
Master’s degree in Public Administration, Economics, Finance, Law, or related field.
Minimum of 5 years of directly relevant professional experience.
Demonstrated expertise in public sector reform, particularly in public service, PFM, and justice.
Proven project management experience, including familiarity with World Bank instruments (e.g., DPOs, PforRs, Trust Funds).
Strong analytical and advisory skills in public administration themes.
In-depth knowledge of Tanzania’s governance and public administration environment.
Excellent client engagement, facilitation, and integrative skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Experience working with international development institutions is an advantage.
