Programme Director (Green Agri Food System Programme) – 1 position aBi’s Background: The Agricultural Business Initiative (aBi) was jointly founded by the Governments of Denmark and Uganda in 2010 as a social enterprise that channels development cooperation funding to agribusinesses and agricultural service providers. aBi aims at building a competitive, profitable & sustainable agriculture and agribusiness sector in support of equitable wealth creation in Uganda. The aBi consists of two companies; aBi Finance Ltd a company limited by shares and aBi Development Ltd (formerly aBi Trust) limited by guarantee. aBi Development Ltd.’s: focus is to increase agricultural production and value addition by extending matching grants and Business Development Services (BDS) to agribusinesses, farmer organizations, and intermediaries to enhance planning and management, production, and business infrastructure, as well as upstream and downstream market linkages of producers & agribusinesses. Our Development Partners: Royal Danish Embassy (RDE) and European Union (EU) Programme Director (Green Agri Food System Programme) – 1 position The Programme Director (GRASP) has the prime responsibility for leading the program team towards implementing a year US$ 17–50 million Government of Denmark through the Royal Danish Embassy (RDE) in Kampala and European Union (EU)-funded Green Agri-food Systems (GRASP) Investment Programme in Uganda. H/She will ensure that the program achieves aBi Development’s strategic objectives for impact as well as meeting projected budget investments in Uganda’s Green Agri-Food Systems. S/he will provide strategic guidance on how to promote and integrate climate change adaptation in aBi Development ‘s projects and programmes. In addition, s/he will oversee the integration of climate change adaptation and climate analysis in aBi Development processes that would include project development, implementing partner selection, grants management and reporting among others. The Programme Director will be the primary representative of the GRASP programme for liaising with RDE, EU and government officials, and forging alliances with businesses, organizations, and key stakeholders.
Strategic Planning and Leadership:
Program Development: Design and develop comprehensive strategies and action plans to achieve the goals of the Green Agri Food System Programme.
Vision and Direction: Provide leadership and vision to drive sustainable agricultural practices and environmental conservation initiatives.
Policy Advocacy: Advocate for policies and regulations that support sustainable agriculture and environmental protection.
Program Management:
Implementation Oversight: Oversee the implementation of program activities, ensuring they are executed effectively and efficiently.
Monitoring and Evaluation: Develop and implement monitoring and evaluation frameworks to assess program impact and outcomes.
Resource Allocation: Manage program budgets, allocate resources, and ensure financial accountability.
Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks associated with program activities.
Stakeholder Engagement:
Collaboration: Foster partnerships with government agencies, NGOs, research institutions, and private sector stakeholders.
Community Involvement: Engage with local communities and farmers to ensure their involvement and buy-in for sustainable practices.
Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for stakeholders and maintain transparent communication channels.

Advanced Degree: A master's degree or higher in agriculture, environmental science, sustainable development, or a related field.
Relevant Experience: Extensive experience (typically 7-10 years or more) in program management, particularly in sustainable agriculture, environmental conservation, or related fields.

Leadership Skills: Strong leadership and management skills to guide teams and oversee program implementation.
Strategic Thinking: Ability to develop and implement strategic plans and frameworks.
Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of sustainable agricultural practices, food security, and environmental conservation.
