Job Description
The Program Officer will be responsible for managing and delivering program activities efficiently and effectively. This includes overseeing work plans, developing training content, coordinating stakeholder dialogues, and ensuring quality program documentation. The officer will lead efforts in community mobilization, capacity building, GBV prevention, reporting, and evaluation, while working closely with partners, local government, and other stakeholders. The role demands strong leadership, organizational and communication skills, and an ability to work in a dynamic, multicultural environment.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Provide technical and logistical support for program implementation, including development of TORs, training modules, and reporting formats.
Ensure alignment of project work plans with organizational strategies and donor agreements.
Manage and evaluate project activities, identifying bottlenecks and ensuring prompt solutions.
Lead community-based project implementation and support stakeholder engagement at all levels.
Facilitate GBV prevention through awareness campaigns, community dialogues, and outreach.
Conduct and organize capacity-building sessions for community groups, volunteers, and stakeholders.
Supervise trainers and local institutions advocating for women's rights and GBV prevention.
Strengthen reporting and referral systems and improve community-based protection networks.
Lead IEC and BCC materials development and coordinate culturally sensitive GBV campaigns.
Foster strong relationships with government departments and NGOs to mainstream GBV in programs.
Collaborate with M&E Officer to monitor project outcomes and ensure quality reporting.
Manage team performance, conduct field monitoring visits, and oversee project assets.
Take the lead in preparing periodic narrative and progress reports.
Organize coordination meetings with government partners and support audit compliance.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Development Studies, Social Sciences, Project Management, or related field.
3–6 years of experience in a similar role within NGO or development sector.
Strong background in program development, implementation, and reporting.
Proven experience in GBV programming and community engagement.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Competency in advocacy, strategic thinking, team leadership, and resource mobilization.
Experience working with government and international development partners.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in multicultural teams.
Commitment to gender equality, diversity, and inclusion.
High ethical standards and personal integrity.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other project management tools.
