Job Description
The Procurement Assistant will be responsible for preparing purchase requisitions and orders, sourcing suppliers, collecting quotations, and monitoring deliveries to avoid project delays. The role includes maintaining procurement records, ensuring compliance with company policies and industry standards, and providing documentation for audits. The assistant will collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and suppliers to align material requirements with technical specifications and budgets. Additionally, the role involves identifying cost-saving opportunities, supporting continuous process improvements, and leveraging digital procurement systems to enhance efficiency.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Prepare and process purchase requisitions and orders for construction materials, tools, and equipment.
Source and evaluate suppliers for competitive pricing, quality, and reliability.
Collect quotations and prepare bid comparisons.
Track order status and delivery schedules to prevent delays.
Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with site teams for replenishment.
Maintain procurement records, supplier contracts, and delivery notes.
Ensure compliance with company policies, standards, and legal requirements.
Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and quantity surveyors on material needs.
Evaluate supplier and subcontractor performance.
Identify cost-saving opportunities and support procurement process improvements.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field.
Minimum 5 years’ procurement experience in the construction industry.
Professional certification (CIPS, KISM, CPSP-K) is an added advantage.
Strong knowledge of construction materials, equipment, and supplier markets.
Experience with ERP or procurement management systems.
Strong negotiation, vendor management, and communication skills.
Analytical, detail-oriented, and cost-conscious.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
High integrity and adherence to ethical procurement practices.
