Job Description
The Process Control Technician will be responsible for maintaining safe and efficient operation of control and automation equipment, including PLCs, networks, and field instruments. This role involves troubleshooting, repairs, calibration, software support, and contributing to process improvement initiatives. The technician will also apply problem-solving techniques, participate in project upgrades, support quality assurance at source, and uphold safety and housekeeping standards in line with company policies and industry regulations.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Ensure compliance with safety, health, and environmental regulations.
Maintain a safe and clean working environment.
Locate equipment and relevant documentation to plan and prepare jobs.
Carry out repairs, maintenance, and calibration of instruments.
Improve plant processes and systems through continuous optimization.
Operate plant equipment and support autonomous operations.
Perform basic PLC software changes under supervision.
Support project upgrades and new installations.
Utilize loss and waste control methods to identify and resolve issues.
Apply 5S workplace organization principles and adhere to standard operating procedures.
Participate in quality assurance and team-based problem-solving.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Education & Certifications:
N6 and Trade Test Qualification in Electrical Engineering (Light Current).
Certified Instrumentation Technician.
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years' experience in an FMCG processing environment.
At least 3 years of hands-on experience in instrumentation equipment maintenance and PLC troubleshooting.
Skills:
Strong knowledge of Instrumentation, PLC systems (Siemens, Rockwell), RSBatch, InTouch, InSQL, Fieldbus Networks (ASI, Profibus, Ethernet).
Excellent fault-finding, calibration, and analytical abilities.
Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Strong communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
Motivated self-starter with high energy and attention to detail.
