Cleaning and Maintenance: Perform cleaning tasks to maintain the cleanliness and appearance of the facility, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and sanitizing surfaces. This may involve cleaning public areas, restrooms, hallways, and other designated spaces.
Trash Removal: Collect and dispose of trash and recyclables from designated areas, ensuring that waste is properly sorted and disposed of according to regulations and procedures.
Room Set-Up: Prepare rooms or event spaces for meetings, conferences, or special events by arranging furniture, setting up equipment, and ensuring that supplies are stocked and available as needed.
Moving and Transporting: Assist with moving furniture, equipment, supplies, or luggage within the facility. This may involve using hand trucks, dollies, or other equipment to transport heavy or bulky items safely and efficiently.
Assisting Guests or Residents: Provide assistance to guests, residents, or customers as needed, such as helping with directions, carrying luggage, or escorting individuals to their destinations within the facility.
Security and Safety: Monitor the premises for any security or safety concerns, such as suspicious activity, hazards, or maintenance issues. Report any incidents or emergencies to appropriate personnel and take appropriate action as necessary.
Customer Service: Provide friendly and courteous service to guests, residents, or customers, addressing their inquiries, concerns, or requests in a timely and professional manner.
Light Maintenance: Perform minor maintenance tasks, such as changing light bulbs, replacing batteries in smoke detectors, or tightening loose fixtures, as directed by maintenance staff or supervisors.
Inventory Management: Maintain inventory levels of cleaning supplies, toiletries, and other materials used in the course of duties. Place orders for supplies as needed and ensure that storage areas are organized and stocked appropriately.
Teamwork: Collaborate with other staff members, including maintenance workers, housekeepers, front desk staff, and security personnel, to ensure that operations run smoothly and efficiently.

Physical Stamina: Porters should have the physical strength and endurance to perform tasks that involve lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling heavy objects, as well as standing or walking for extended periods.
Attention to Detail: Paying attention to detail is essential for performing cleaning tasks effectively, following instructions accurately, and identifying any maintenance issues or safety hazards that may arise.
Communication Skills: Good communication skills are important for interacting with guests, residents, coworkers, and supervisors. Porters should be able to communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing.
Customer Service Skills: Porters should possess strong customer service skills and be able to provide assistance and support to guests or residents in a friendly and helpful manner.
Reliability: Porters should be reliable and dependable, showing up for work on time and completing tasks as assigned. They should be able to work independently with minimal supervision and follow instructions carefully.
Flexibility: Porters should be flexible and adaptable, willing to take on different tasks or work schedules as needed to meet the changing needs of the facility.
Work Experience: Prior experience in a similar role, such as janitorial work, housekeeping, maintenance, or customer service, may be beneficial but is not always required. On-the-job training is often provided.
High School Diploma or Equivalent: While not always required, a high school diploma or equivalent may be preferred by some employers.
Background Check: Porters may be required to undergo a background check as part of the hiring process, particularly if the position involves working in sensitive environments such as hospitals, schools, or residential buildings.
Professionalism: Porters should maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times, representing the facility in a positive light to guests, residents, and visitors.
