Overall, laboratory technologists play a critical role in healthcare delivery by performing accurate and reliable laboratory tests that contribute to the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases, as well as advancing medical knowledge and research.
Performing Laboratory Tests: Laboratory technologists are responsible for conducting a wide range of laboratory tests on patient samples, such as blood, urine, tissue, and other bodily fluids, using sophisticated equipment and instrumentation.
Analyzing Results: They interpret test results accurately, ensuring that they are reliable and meet quality control standards. This involves identifying abnormal findings and notifying appropriate healthcare providers of any significant results.
Maintaining Laboratory Equipment: Laboratory technologists are responsible for operating and maintaining laboratory equipment, including calibrating instruments, performing routine maintenance, and troubleshooting technical issues.
Ensuring Quality Control: They adhere to strict quality control and quality assurance procedures to ensure the accuracy and reliability of laboratory test results. This includes monitoring testing processes, performing proficiency testing, and maintaining documentation of quality control measures.
Record-Keeping and Documentation: Laboratory technologists maintain detailed records of test results, including patient information, test procedures, and quality control data. Accurate documentation is essential for patient care, regulatory compliance, and quality improvement initiatives.
Collaborating with Healthcare Team: They work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide timely and accurate laboratory test results, assisting in the diagnosis and treatment of patients.
Research and Development: Some laboratory technologists may be involved in research projects or clinical trials, contributing to the development of new laboratory techniques, diagnostic tests, and treatments.
Safety and Infection Control: Laboratory technologists adhere to strict safety protocols and infection control measures to prevent accidents, minimize exposure to hazardous materials, and ensure the safety of laboratory personnel and patients.
Continuing Education: They stay abreast of advances in laboratory science, technology, and medical knowledge through ongoing education, professional development activities, and participation in conferences and workshops.
Regulatory Compliance: Laboratory technologists ensure compliance with regulatory standards and accreditation requirements set forth by government agencies and accrediting bodies, such as CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments) and CAP (College of American Pathologists).

Bachelor of Pharmacy Degree or its equivalent from a recognized university or institution:
Ability And fluent English knowledge and ability to work in an international environment are preferred;
Good communication, interpersonal and team building skills.
Reporting and functional relationship: Responds to: Senior Pharmacist and ultimately Principal Pharmacist
