AWYAD was established in 2010, by the Late Rev. Fr. Johannes Prus Joseph Van Deven who had a strong passion to support vulnerable women and youth faced with poverty, exploitation and abuse as a result of marginalization and discrimination. Believing in the special power women hold, he put women at the forefront of the organization leadership and management. The organization has very experienced Directors, management and staff, with technical expertise in the fields of Gender, Human Rights, Emergency Response and Education. Over the years AWYAD has become a recognized institution in areas of emergency response, advocacy and education work, all attributed to its unique program design and a community based approach. The institution has a mandate to operate national wide and currently has strong presence in the Northern, Western, Eastern and Central parts of the country.

The African Women and Youth Action for Development (AWYAD) is due to implement a ten (10) months’ project in Nakivale, Rwamwanja and Kisoro Districts. AWYAD is seeking to recruit suitably qualified & experienced individual for the following positions:

Position: MONITORING, EVALUATION, ACCOUNTABILITY & LEARNING OFFICER (1)
Working Areas: Nakivale, Rwamwanja, Kisoro, Districts
Report to: GBV Coordinator

Job purpose: The MEAL Officer will provide support in the implementation of GBV prevention and response by collecting, entering, analyzing data and managing the project database. He / She will support all efforts for promoting a high level of beneficiary accountability including managing the feedback mechanism channels and support all efforts to ensure learning and accountability systems are working effectively.

  • Monitor implementation progress of project activities against objectives and work plans.

  • Conduct field monitoring visits and carry out discussions with beneficiaries and non-beneficiaries to receive feedback on project activities.

  • Take lead in conducting project assessments and facilitation of focus group discussions.

  • Develop relevant tools and frameworks & train project staff in the effective use of MEAL concepts.

  • Compile timely project data reports to inform evidence – based decision making at program levels and for use in preparation of project reports to Donors, Districts and other partners as may be necessary.

  • Conduct research and analyze data to identify risk factors and trends related to GBV data collection exercises.

  • Lead the review, learning and reflection meetings on projects implementation and evaluations.

  • Clean and validate project data before reporting and generate project databases.

  • Document best practices, lessons learned and success stories about AWYAD programs and project interventions in the different regions.

  • University degree in Quantitative Economics, Statistics, Gender studies or related fields.

  • A Post Graduate Diploma in Monitoring & Evaluation

  • A minimum of two (2) years’ MEAL working experience.

  • Fluency in English is a MUST

  • Good communication and coordination skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as a team.

  • Proficiency in MS Office applications, Word, Excel, Power Point, Spread sheets and other Statistical software e.g. SPSS.
