Job Description

The Africa Medical and Behavioral Sciences Organization (AMBSO) is seeking a committed and reliable Medical Officer to execute clinical research duties on a full-time basis. The role involves supervising clinical teams, conducting patient evaluations, and ensuring that all research activities are conducted in accordance with clinical trial protocols and GCP standards.

Duties, Roles and Responsibilities

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Supervising study nurses, clinicians and vaccination teams in their day-to-day activities.
  • Conduct patient evaluations including screening and assessment for eligibility.
  • Supervising and ensuring accurate and proper completion on enrollment activities, including informed consenting procedures.
  • Supervising daily clinic operations including specimens' correction, treatment of infections and identifying different states of study interest such as pregnancy.
  • Facilitating and monitoring follow up schedules including auditing of case report forms
  • Review clinical records to ensure completeness.
  • Review, classify and make recommendations on all adverse events reported by the study team.
  • Ensure proper informed consent process is conducted according to GCP, with participant understanding documented.
  • Communicate with the study supervisor and Pl to complete required action for reporting and management of adverse events.
  • Communicate regularly with the senior research team of the organization and to provide regular updates on the progress of the study.
  • Conducting and attend regular study clinical staff meetings.
  • Participate in staff training.
  • Maintaining good communication between the study team and senior research team.
  • Participate in study monitoring visits, audits, and regulatory inspections, responding to queries as needed.
  • Any other activities as may be assigned.
