Job Description
The Medical Laboratory Scientist will be responsible for carrying out complex laboratory investigations in hematology, microbiology, clinical chemistry, and immunology. The role includes collecting and processing biological specimens, operating diagnostic equipment, and validating test results for clinical accuracy. The incumbent will collaborate with healthcare professionals to interpret findings, maintain laboratory records, and uphold biosafety and infection control standards. Additionally, the role involves participation in quality assurance programs and may include training and guiding junior staff or interns.

How to Apply
Perform routine and specialized laboratory tests across multiple disciplines.
Collect, label, and process patient specimens following safety standards.
Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment and diagnostic instruments.
Validate and analyze test results before issuing reports.
Collaborate with physicians and healthcare providers to interpret results.
Ensure accurate documentation of test results, patient records, and laboratory logs.
Adhere to biosafety, infection control, and laboratory regulatory standards.
Participate in quality control and quality assurance programs.
Provide mentorship and training support to interns or junior laboratory staff.
Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Science (BMLS) or equivalent.
Valid practicing license from the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN).
1–3 years of professional experience in a clinical laboratory environment.
Proficiency in using modern laboratory diagnostic equipment and technologies.
Must be based in Cross River State.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to meet deadlines.
Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
Knowledge of laboratory safety regulations and infection control procedures.
Competency in computer applications and Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
