Job Description
Abacus Pharma is seeking a qualified Mechanical Technician to ensure that all breakdown and preventive maintenance of plant machinery is done efficiently to meet the required standards and maintained equipment quality. The role is based in Kampala and reports to the Maintenance Engineer – Mechanical within the Engineering Department.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot mechanical malfunctions and breakdowns, and perform repairs.
- Optimise mechanical efficiency by adjusting machinery and equipment settings.
- Resolve motor, pump, conveyor, pneumatic, hydraulic, and transmission problems.
- Comply with company safety guidelines and procedures.
- Repair and perform preventive maintenance as per established standards.
- Handle personal tools as per the tool list and complete time accounting for work orders.
- Understand, read, and interpret mechanical drawings accurately.
- Maintain log books for servicing equipment at all times.
- Maintain and repair all plant machines and utilities.
- Follow the Preventive Maintenance Schedule (PMS) for all machines.
- Check and maintain oil and lubrication systems for all machines and utilities.
- Check and control all leakages for steam, water, and compressed air in the plant.
- Perform mechanical settings, alignment for transmission systems, and minor electrical work.
- Replace spare parts and maintain reports; use the maintenance module in ERP.
- Work all shifts flexibly when job demands.
- Execute any other duties assigned by the HOD to management expectations.
