Job Description
Reporting to the Market Category Manager for Agriculture Development Africa, the Market Manager will be responsible for the end-to-end sourcing strategy, supplier relationship management, and execution of regenerative agriculture initiatives. This includes ensuring the supply of local raw materials, managing costs and risks, leveraging digital platforms for traceability, and fostering stakeholder engagement. The successful candidate will also lead farmer workshops, training, and capacity-building programs to support profitability and sustainable farming practices.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Develop and execute sourcing and category management strategies
Ensure continuous, high-quality supply of local raw materials
Manage procurement costs and identify productivity opportunities
Analyze supplier markets and build negotiation strategies
Identify and mitigate sourcing risks across short, medium, and long term
Engage and develop diverse, trustworthy suppliers
Deploy digital tools to enhance traceability and farmer records
Implement regenerative agriculture projects with cross-functional teams
Conduct farmer engagement workshops, trainings, and field visits
Map stakeholders and lead robust engagement strategies
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Procurement, or related fields
Proven experience in agricultural sourcing, supply chain management, or rural development
Strong analytical, negotiation, and strategic thinking skills
Familiarity with digital agriculture tools and traceability platforms
Experience working with smallholder farmers and implementing development projects
Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
Commitment to sustainability and inclusive sourcing
Adaptability and a collaborative mindset for agile project delivery
