Job Description
Reporting to senior leadership, the Manager, Treasury Middle Office is tasked with ensuring the effective oversight of treasury activities and adherence to internal and regulatory risk frameworks. This includes verifying market data integrity, developing risk measurement models, participating in risk evaluations for new financial products, and monitoring dealer trading positions to ensure compliance with set limits. The role provides vital analysis of the Treasury P&L to detect anomalies and drive insights for decision-making. This position is integral to sustaining Equity Bank’s financial integrity and performance through prudent risk management practices.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Monitor adherence to treasury risk management policies and flag exceptions.
Review and verify the accuracy of market data (yields, exchange rates, volatilities) within treasury systems.
Maintain historical market data and ensure systems are up to date.
Provide independent oversight of treasury activities and dealer positions.
Assess risk in proposed new treasury products and ensure proper approvals are in place.
Develop valuation models and risk metrics for various financial instruments.
Analyze treasury profit and loss statements for trends, anomalies, and deviations.
Report significant deviations and potential risks to heads of risk, treasury, and finance.
Support regulatory and internal audit requirements related to treasury operations.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Education & Certification:
Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field (required).
Postgraduate training in Financial Services and/or Risk Management (preferred).
ACI Dealing and Operations certification (required).
Additional certifications such as CFA, FRM, FRR, or CISI (highly recommended).
Experience:
Minimum 5 years in treasury front office or operations, preferably in a dynamic and fast-paced organization with regional/global reach.
Practical experience in treasury risk management systems and tools.
Hands-on knowledge of treasury products and risk frameworks.
Key Competencies:
Expertise in managing market, liquidity, and counterparty risk.
Proficiency in risk assessment, modeling tools, and reporting platforms.
Excellent communication and analytical skills.
Strong regulatory knowledge, including CBK and international financial standards.
