The Uganda National Oil Company (UNOC) Limited is a limited liability company fully owned by the Government of Uganda. It was established under the Petroleum (Exploration, Development and Production) Act and the Petroleum (Refining, Conversion, Transmission and Midstream Storage) Act, both enacted in 2013, and incorporated under the Companies Act, 2012.
UNOC is mandated to manage the State’s commercial interests in Uganda’s oil and gas sector, ensuring sustainable exploitation of petroleum resources.

Job Title: Management Accountant (1 Vacancy) – Re-advertised
Reports To: Senior Management Accountant
Job Purpose
The Management Accountant will support informed decision-making by providing timely and relevant financial insights to senior management. This includes preparing management accounting reports, monitoring business performance against budgets, maintaining effective cost accounting and budgetary control systems, and ensuring compliance with internal control procedures.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Prepare and analyze departmental variance reports and provide recommendations on budget performance and expenditure control.
Support the development and review of key Government planning documents including the Budget Framework Paper, Ministerial Policy Statement, and National Development Plans, and provide relevant insights for CFO decision-making.
Contribute to the preparation of quarterly and annual work plans for UNOC and its subsidiaries.
Review departmental work plans and budgets, including those for joint venture partners of UNOC and its subsidiaries.
Coordinate and prepare timely monthly management accounts.
Regularly review general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy of financial balances.
Conduct cost-benefit analyses and financial evaluations for UNOC projects.
Participate in the creation and evaluation of business strategies aimed at enhancing shareholder value.
Support the budget rationalization process in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance, Planning & Economic Development.
Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor from time to time.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor’s Degree (Hons) in Commerce, Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, Economics, or any related field from a recognized university.
Must have completed at least Level II of a recognized professional accounting qualification (ACCA / CPA).
Minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience in finance, budgeting, or accounting within a reputable and fast-paced organization.
Skills & Competencies
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
Keen attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
High degree of professionalism and ability to maintain confidentiality.
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively across departments and levels.
