Job Description

The Logistics Officer will oversee and manage procurement, transportation, fleet and asset management, warehouse operations, office support, and logistics reporting. The role ensures compliance with Action Against Hunger’s policies, donor regulations, and local laws. Additionally, the officer will provide technical input on humanitarian access and security management, assist in staff training and briefing, and represent the organization in safety-related coordination meetings.

Duties, Roles and Responsibilities

Procurement & Supply Chain:

  • Manage procurement activities in accordance with internal and donor guidelines

  • Maintain vendor records and oversee framework agreements

  • Ensure transparency and cost-effectiveness in sourcing goods and services

Fleet & Transportation:

  • Plan and track vehicle movements, fuel consumption, and servicing

  • Manage vehicle logbooks and maintenance follow-ups

Asset & Inventory Management:

  • Tag, track, and update assets and equipment registers

  • Oversee equipment transfers and disposal processes

Warehouse & Stock Management:

  • Supervise stock intake, storage, and dispatch

  • Ensure accurate records, safety, and security in warehouses

Office & Facility Support:

  • Manage office supplies, utilities, and liaise with service providers

Reporting & Documentation:

  • Prepare monthly logistics reports and support audits

  • Maintain procurement files, fleet records, and stock cards

Safety, Security & Humanitarian Access:

  • Support field teams with access and security planning

  • Update and implement contingency plans, SOPs, and compliance checks

  • Analyze evolving security contexts and access constraints

  • Train and brief new staff and visitors on security measures

  • Represent the organization in local safety and coordination networks

Team Supervision:

  • Supervise drivers, interns, and casual laborers when required

Qualifications, Education and Competencies

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business Administration, or related field

Experience:

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in logistics, preferably within NGOs or international organizations

Skills:

  • Strong organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills

  • Fluent in English and Swahili (spoken and written)

  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office

  • Experience using ERP/logistics software (preferred)

  • High integrity and ability to work independently under pressure
