Job Description
The Logistics Health & Safety Supervisor will oversee the implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of health, safety, and environmental standards across all logistics, transport, and material handling operations. The role ensures safe working practices, regulatory compliance, effective risk management, and promotion of a strong safety culture within the logistics department and among contracted service providers.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and oversee logistics health, safety, and environmental management systems, procedures, and guidelines.
- Supervise daily safety operations within logistics and transport activities including loading, offloading, warehousing, and fleet movement.
- Conduct routine safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments for logistics facilities and transportation routes.
- Ensure compliance with Ugandan occupational health and road safety regulations, company policies, and international HSE standards.
- Monitor fleet safety performance and enforce adherence to driver safety rules, journey management plans, and defensive driving standards.
- Lead accident/incident investigations, prepare reports, and ensure implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
- Train and sensitize logistics staff, drivers, and contractors on safe work practices, PPE usage, emergency response, and HSE procedures.
- Maintain accurate safety documentation, records, and performance statistics.
- Support ISO 45001/14001 implementation and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Promote a proactive safety culture and ensure effective communication of safety expectations across the logistics function.
