Job Description
As a Linux System Administrator, you will be responsible for the smooth operation, maintenance, and security of computer systems in both networked and standalone configurations. You will work closely with technical support teams and clients to ensure reliability, performance, and data integrity. Key duties include managing AWS-based infrastructure, supporting Windows and Linux systems, planning technology transitions, performing upgrades, and troubleshooting recurring technical issues. This position requires a proactive approach to improving system performance and security while facilitating modernization of electronic health records for Veterans Affairs.

How to Apply
Manage Windows and Linux systems in cloud and hybrid environments.
Plan and support the transition of systems to new technologies.
Maintain secure and high-performance infrastructure on AWS.
Establish and ensure operational continuity of hardware and software systems.
Work with technical teams to resolve issues and ensure system integrity.
Analyze recurring issues and implement preventive solutions.
Upgrade and patch systems and software as necessary.
Monitor market trends and recommend infrastructure improvements.
Collaborate on modernization initiatives for electronic health records.
Maintain documentation and communicate effectively with team members.
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Minimum 8 years of relevant experience.
At least 5 years of Windows and Linux system administration.
Proficiency with AWS cloud services.
Strong understanding of networking concepts and protocols.
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
Preferred:
Experience with RHEL 6, 7, 8; RAID; Volume Shadow Copy Service.
AWS certifications (e.g., Solutions Architect).
Familiarity with Jenkins, Gitlab, SonarQube, Jira, Confluence, LDAP, Tomcat 7, OpenShift, and VMware 6.5.
Knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes.
Ability to obtain and maintain a suitability/Public Trust clearance.
