Job Description

The Lifecycle & Subscription Growth Manager will be responsible for designing and implementing strategies that increase customer retention, upsells, and revenue per user. The role involves improving onboarding experiences, optimizing billing workflows, and developing dunning and cancel-intercept systems that reduce churn and enhance user satisfaction.

The successful candidate will lead A/B testing initiatives, build cohort dashboards, monitor KPIs, and collaborate cross-functionally with product, engineering, and marketing teams to ensure seamless subscription operations.

This role requires a mix of analytical thinking, creative problem-solving, and technical proficiency with subscription tools such as Shopify, Recharge, and CRM systems. The position also offers performance-based bonuses for achieving key retention and growth metrics.

  • Develop and execute retention strategies to reduce churn and increase ARPU/LTV.

  • Build and manage dunning systems, cancel-intercept workflows, and onboarding funnels that drive engagement and minimize cancellations.

  • Implement advanced billing cycles (e.g., 28-day billing, quarterly/annual subscriptions).

  • Design and test cancel-surveys, exit interviews, and reason-based retention offers to recover at-risk customers.

  • Monitor and optimize Shopify + Recharge API workflows for better customer experience.

  • Build dashboards and reports tracking involuntary churn, retention rates, and upgrade performance.

  • Run 3 A/B tests per week focusing on dunning, cancellation recovery, and onboarding improvements.

  • Collaborate with the product and marketing teams to execute upgrade promotions, rewards programs, and referral campaigns.

  • Analyze customer cohorts, churn reasons, and behavioral data to inform strategic initiatives.

  • Report regularly on lifecycle performance and implement data-backed action plans.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, or related field (preferred).

  • 3–5+ years of experience in DTC subscription lifecycle management, CRM, or retention marketing.

  • Hands-on experience with Shopify, Recharge, and Klaviyo/SMS platforms.

  • Proven track record in churn reduction, LTV optimization, and offer testing.

  • Understanding of subscription billing, analytics, and customer experience.

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Data-driven mindset with fluency in cohort analysis and churn metrics.

  • Excellent written communication, including copywriting and wireframing skills.

  • Ability to manage freelancers or light development tasks for UX/API solutions.

  • Creative and proactive, with a “test–learn–iterate” work approach.

  • Strong organizational and project management skills.

  • Proficiency with analytics tools and subscription software.
