Job Description
The role holder will be responsible for providing administrative, technical and legal support to bank operations by offering legal advice on routine business transactions to ensure that the Bank’s interests are protected and all legal risks are mitigated through constructive legal review and engagement with stakeholders.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
- Provide legal advice and support to various departments/business lines
- Represent the Legal Department in various committee meetings
- Evaluate potential legal risks and issues and provide recommendations for risk mitigation
- Draft and review all legal documents (contracts, agreements, collateral, etc.)
- Directly support the Bank’s credit and commercial departments on documentation and securitization
- Support legal compliance training sessions
- Provide legal advice on non-commercial internal matters (staff disciplinary hearings, tenancy agreements, etc.)
- Research and prepare legal opinions
- Conduct branch visits to assess compliance
- Review and follow up on new laws
- Peruse staff loan/advance files for completeness
- Liaise with external counsel
- Reconciliation of company searches and staff mortgage registration accounts
- Regular updates to the Department’s risk profile/register
- Track and report on the Department’s key Risk Indicators (KRIs)
- Annually complete the Department’s Business Impact Analysis (BIA) and review of the Business Continuity Plan (BCP)
