Job Description

The Legal Assistant will be based at the UN-Habitat headquarters in Nairobi, working under the supervision of the Chief Legal Officer. The successful candidate will assist in reviewing and preparing legal documents, maintaining case files and legal databases, conducting research, and facilitating communication between internal departments and external partners. This role requires attention to detail, confidentiality, and the ability to manage multiple legal and administrative tasks.

Education:

  • Completion of secondary education is required

  • Supplementary training in law, paralegal studies, or related field is desirable

Experience:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in legal assistance, paralegal support, or administrative roles within a legal environment is required

  • Experience in the UN system or an international organization is an advantage

Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of legal terminology, document formatting, and legal research techniques

  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • High degree of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism

  • Proficiency in MS Office and legal database tools

Languages:

  • Fluency in English is required

  • Knowledge of another UN language is an advantage
