is a Non-Governmental Organization that was established in 1993 and is located in Uganda (East Africa). ACTV advocates against torture, treats and rehabilitates survivors of torture and violence of both Ugandans and Refugees. It is a one-stop centre that offers holistic rehabilitation services to Survivors of torture and violence. These include; advocacy against torture, medical treatment, physiotherapy, legal redress, mental health, social support services and anchors her service provision on evidence that is generated through research and documentation.

African Centre for Treatment and Rehabilitation of Torture Victims
The African Centre for Treatment and Rehabilitation of Torture Victims ( ACTV ) is a Non-Governmental organization in Uganda which commenced operations in 1993 whose mandate includes advocacy against torture and provision of physical and psychological treatment and rehabilitation, social support and legal services to survivors of torture.
Provide legal services for torture survivors.
Interview clients and correctly record their complaints in preparation for litigation.
Prepare torture survivors for court appearance.
Assist in coordinating and conducting visits to places of detention to offer legal advice.
Support in awareness/sensitization workshops for communities and security officers on human rights and torture.
Screen, provide legal advice, make referrals and conduct client follow ups.
Properly document and file all client information and legal documents for future reference.
Assist in conducting client legal case investigations and follow ups
Prepare and produce periodic reports for the unit as per the agreed timelines.
Carry out legal research in preparation for court.
Prepare activity and monthly reports.
Draft contracts, Agreements, MOUs between ACTV and Organizations/partners.
Carry out any other work related duties as assigned by your supervisor.

The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Law
At least a minimum of one (1) year of experience working with a law firm or similar experience in an NGO
Languages: Fluency in English. Proficiency in Ngakarimojong language
Competencies
Demonstrable knowledge of MS office and web –based application.
Experience in public speaking an asset
Ability to prioritize and adapt to changing situations based on need.
Ability to multi-task.
Dedication to working for and with the vulnerable people.
Demonstrated documentation skills
