Kyambogo University is the second largest Public University in Uganda. Since its formation in 2003, the University has established itself as one of the leading Universities in Uganda offering a number of academic programmes in line with vocational education, teacher training, hands-on engineering, special needs training, social sciences, pure and applied sciences, entrepreneurship and management that meet the market demands and development needs of the Country. The Strategic Focus Areas of the University include: Teaching and Learning: Research, Innovation and Knowledge Generation; Physicalfrastructure, Facilities and ICT Development, Institutional evelopment and Strategic Marketing.
In order to achieve its mission and strategic goals, the University invites applications from suitably qualified persons to fill the Teaching positions in the disciplines listed hereunder on permanent terms.

Kyambogo University (KYU) was established with the main aim of promoting and advancing knowledge and development of skills in Science, Technology and Education and such other fields having regards for quality, equity, progress and transformation of society.

  • Teaching: Deliver lectures, seminars, and practical sessions on various aspects of natural and textile technology, including textile manufacturing processes, fiber science, dyeing and printing techniques, textile testing, and quality control.

  • Curriculum Development: Develop and update course materials, syllabi, and teaching resources to ensure alignment with current industry practices and academic standards in the field of natural and textile technology.

  • Laboratory Supervision: Oversee laboratory sessions and hands-on experiments to provide students with practical experience in textile testing, analysis, and production processes. Ensure adherence to safety protocols and best practices in laboratory settings.

  • Student Advising: Provide academic and career advising to students majoring in natural and textile technology. Assist students in course selection, internship opportunities, research projects, and career pathways within the textile industry.

  • Research and Scholarship: Conduct research in areas relevant to natural and textile technology, such as sustainable textile production, advanced materials development, or textile innovations. Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at conferences.

  • Industry Collaboration: Collaborate with textile industry partners, research institutions, and government agencies on collaborative research projects, technology transfer initiatives, and professional development programs for textile professionals.

  • Community Engagement: Engage with local communities, textile organizations, and professional associations to promote awareness of textile technology advancements, foster industry-academic partnerships, and address relevant societal challenges.

  • Professional Development: Stay updated with advancements in textile technology, manufacturing processes, and sustainability practices through ongoing professional development activities, including attending conferences, workshops, and training programs.

  • Education: A minimum of a master's degree in textile engineering, textile chemistry, fiber science, or a closely related field is typically required for a lecturer position. Some institutions may prefer candidates with a doctoral degree (Ph.D.) for advanced research and teaching roles.

  • Teaching Experience: While previous teaching experience is not always required for entry-level positions, candidates with teaching experience, especially in higher education or vocational training settings, may have an advantage.
