Sample Collection and Preparation: Collecting samples from various sources, such as patients, animals, or environmental samples, and preparing them for analysis according to established protocols and procedures.
Lab Equipment Operation and Maintenance: Operating and maintaining laboratory equipment and instruments, including microscopes, centrifuges, spectrophotometers, and chromatography systems, to ensure accurate and reliable test results.
Testing and Analysis: Performing a variety of laboratory tests and experiments, such as chemical analyses, biological assays, microbiological cultures, and genetic testing, using standard techniques and methodologies.
Data Recording and Analysis: Recording and documenting test results, observations, and experimental data accurately and comprehensively in laboratory notebooks, electronic databases, or other record-keeping systems. Analyzing data and reporting findings to supervisors or researchers.
Quality Control and Assurance: Following quality control procedures and protocols to ensure the accuracy, precision, and reliability of laboratory test results. Participating in proficiency testing programs and internal quality assurance activities.
Safety and Compliance: Adhering to safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe working environment in the laboratory. Handling hazardous materials, chemicals, and biological specimens safely and disposing of them properly. Ensuring compliance with laboratory accreditation standards, regulatory requirements, and ethical guidelines.
Inventory Management: Managing laboratory supplies, reagents, and consumables inventory, including ordering, receiving, storing, and organizing materials. Monitoring inventory levels and notifying supervisors when supplies need to be replenished.
Documentation and Reporting: Documenting laboratory procedures, protocols, and findings in written reports, technical documents, or presentations. Communicating results effectively to colleagues, supervisors, and other stakeholders.
Collaboration and Communication: Collaborating with other laboratory staff, researchers, and clinicians to plan and execute experiments, troubleshoot issues, and interpret results. Communicating effectively with team members and stakeholders to ensure smooth workflow and project coordination.
Professional Development: Staying updated on new laboratory techniques, technologies, and methodologies through continuing education, training programs, and professional development opportunities. Pursuing relevant certifications or credentials to enhance skills and qualifications.
Customer Service: Providing excellent customer service to internal and external clients, such as healthcare providers, patients, researchers, or regulatory agencies. Responding promptly to inquiries, requests, and feedback and addressing concerns professionally.
Research Support: Providing support to research projects by assisting with experimental design, data collection, and analysis. Collaborating with principal investigators or research teams to achieve research objectives and milestones.

Diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences or equivalent form a recognised Institution
Additional training in relevant fields will be an added advantage.
