Job Description
The Lab Assistant is responsible for ensuring a clean and safe laboratory environment, preparing and receiving cytology specimens, completing necessary administrative tasks, and supporting the general operations of the laboratory. The role also requires studying and completing the required tasks for the learner lab assistant training program. Maintaining professional client relations and adhering to standard procedures are key components of this role.

Prepare cytology specimens to ensure efficient specimen processing.
Receive cytology specimens to ensure proper specimen flow and processing within the lab.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Qualifications:
Grade 12 (Required)
HPCSA Registration in Relevant Register and Practice Field (Required)
Required Experience:
Experience within a pathology laboratory environment.
Knowledge of the Meditech system.
Competencies:
Good organizational and administrative skills.
Ability to follow laboratory protocols and standards.
Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high laboratory safety and hygiene standards.
Strong interpersonal skills to maintain professional client relations.
Ability to work effectively within a team and under supervision.
