The Uganda Investment Authority (UIA) is a semi-autonomous Government Agency operating in partnership with the private sector and Government of Uganda to drive National economic growth and development. The Authority was setup by an Act of Parliament (Investment Code 1991, which was later revised to the Edition 2000 Lavs of Uganda) 2019 with the aim of promoting and facilitating private sector investment in Uganda.
UIA seeks to recruit highly competent, qualified and motivated individuals to fill the following vacant position.

Legal Compliance and Due Diligence:
Conduct thorough legal due diligence on land and property investments, including title searches, environmental checks, and reviewing zoning laws.
Ensure all land acquisitions, sales, and leases comply with local, state, and national property laws, regulations, and zoning requirements.
Monitor changes in property law, regulations, and government policies that may affect investment decisions or land administration.
Contract Management:
Draft, review, and negotiate contracts related to land purchases, sales, leases, joint ventures, and development agreements.
Manage legal documentation, including deeds, purchase agreements, leases, and licenses to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Liaise with external legal counsel, surveyors, and land agents to ensure that all contracts and agreements are legally binding and in the organization’s best interest.
Land Administration:
Oversee the registration, transfer, and updating of land titles and deeds to ensure accurate ownership records.
Manage land portfolios, including land use rights, easements, and encumbrances.
Ensure that land assets are properly recorded, maintained, and monitored in the company’s records or land administration system.
Investment Evaluation & Risk Assessment:
Collaborate with the investment team to evaluate land investment opportunities from a legal and administrative perspective.
Assess risks related to land investments, including legal disputes, ownership issues, environmental concerns, and regulatory challenges.
Provide recommendations to the senior management team regarding the legal feasibility and potential risks of investment decisions.
A bachelor’s degree in law (LLB), real estate law, land administration, or a related field is typically required.
A postgraduate qualification or professional certification in land management, property law, or investment law may be advantageous.
In some cases, a combination of law and business or finance qualifications (such as an MBA) could be beneficial.
Experience:
5–10 years of experience in real estate law, land administration, property investment, or a related legal field.
Experience handling legal matters related to land transactions, acquisitions, zoning, and real estate development.
Proven track record in managing complex land portfolios, legal negotiations, and disputes.
Familiarity with the regulatory environment and legal frameworks governing land investments and property ownership.
Skills:
Legal Expertise: Strong understanding of property law, land administration processes, and investment regulations.
Contract Negotiation & Drafting: Ability to draft, review, and negotiate legally sound contracts for land transactions.
Risk Management: Skills in identifying legal risks and developing strategies to mitigate them in land and property investments.
Project Management: Ability to manage multiple land-related projects, transactions, and legal cases simultaneously.
Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills for interacting with internal teams, external stakeholders, and legal professionals.
Problem-Solving: Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities to handle complex legal and administrative issues related to land.
Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to legal details and accuracy in managing contracts, land titles, and legal documentation.
