Job Description

The Intern Assistant Accountant will support the Station Accountant in executing financial operations at station level. The role ensures accurate processing of payments, reconciliations, documentation, reporting, and compliance with IITA finance policies and donor requirements.

Duties, Roles and Responsibilities

  • Process bank and mobile money payments through online banking systems following IITA finance policies
  • Perform first-level input of data for online banking payments and follow up for signatory approvals
  • Stamp vouchers as “PAID” and “POSTED” after processing
  • Follow up with units on timely submission of chargebacks and compile chargeback journals
  • Support the Station Accountant in monthly financial reporting to headquarters
  • Provide support in tax filing and documentation
  • Manage petty cash by maintaining updated cash books and conducting weekly reconciliations and cash counts
  • Conduct weekly and monthly cash counts and compile cash count certificates
  • Monitor bank account statements to ensure sufficient liquidity
  • Support timely processing of supplier payments, staff advances, and staff salaries
  • Process invoices and follow up payments from farmhouses tenants
  • In liaison with the P&C Officer, compile casual labor payment requests
  • Support the Station Accountant on internal and external audits and other assurance processes
  • Manage station stores and participate in quarterly stock counts
  • Manage physical and electronic filing systems of all payment and receipt vouchers
  • Support financial data entry in Oracle as required
  • Perform any other duties as assigned
