Job Description

The intern will work under the Public Space and Spatial Analysis portfolio and will assist in a variety of tasks, including research, data collection and analysis, preparation of maps and visual materials, and drafting of reports and case studies. This role will be hybrid, based in Nairobi, Kenya, and is suited for individuals interested in spatial planning, geographic information systems (GIS), public policy, and sustainable urban development. Interns will also support UN-Habitat’s work on improving public spaces and promoting inclusive urban environments.

Academic Qualifications:

  • Enrolled in or recently graduated from a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Urban Planning, Architecture, Geography, Environmental Studies, or a related field

Experience and Skills:

  • Strong interest in sustainable urban development and public space planning

  • Experience with spatial analysis tools such as ArcGIS, QGIS, or similar software

  • Good research and analytical skills

  • Ability to work independently and in a multicultural environment

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English

  • Proficiency in other UN languages (especially French or Spanish) is an asset
