As an Intermediate Site Reliability Engineer (SRE), you’ll be responsible for the uptime and reliability of GitLab’s user-facing services and production systems. The role focuses on designing and managing scalable network infrastructure, incident response, automation, and cross-functional collaboration to maintain and improve the platform’s performance. SREs are expected to be autonomous, proactive, and innovative, with a strong focus on systems, algorithms, and distributed environments.

Must-Have Skills & Experience:

  • Expertise in Google Cloud Platform networking (VPCs, subnets, load balancers)

  • GKE (Google Kubernetes Engine) configuration and scaling

  • Proficiency in Terraform and configuration management tools (Ansible, Chef)

  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and Helm

  • Programming in Ruby or Go

  • Understanding of TCP/IP, HTTP/HTTPS, DNS protocols

  • Familiarity with network observability and traffic analysis tools

  • Strong scripting abilities (Ruby, Go, Bash)

  • Experience with GitLab CI or equivalent CI/CD tools
