Umoja Microfinance is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Human Resource Assistant to join our team. The Human Resource Assistant will be responsible for supporting various HR functions, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, and HR administrative tasks. The ideal candidate will have a friendly and approachable character, passion for HR, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Assist in the recruitment process by posting job openings, screening resumes, scheduling interviews, and conducting reference checks.
Coordinate and conduct employee onboarding, including orientation sessions and paperwork completion.
Maintain employee records and ensure all documents are up-to-date and accurate.
Assist in organizing training programs and workshops for employees.
Support HR-related administrative tasks, including filing, data entry, and preparing HR reports.
Assist in managing employee relations issues and provide support in conflict resolution.
Assist in benefits administration and ensure employees are aware of and understand their benefits packages.
Participate in HR projects and initiatives to improve HR processes and procedures.
Stay up-to-date with HR best practices and legal requirements to ensure compliance.
Support in other ad hoc related tasks such as event planning and organizing.
Manage the monthly employee newsletter and recognition flyers.

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
Previous experience in a similar HR role, ideally within a microfinance organisation.
Strong organizational and multitasking skills with great attention to detail.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
Knowledge of HR software and systems is an advantage.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
