Uganda Women’s Effort to Save Orphans (UWESO) is actively searching for a passionate and experienced Human Resource Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will bring a wealth of experience in managing Human Resource functions within the Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), with a focus on Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) and child care initiatives. We are specifically looking for individuals with expertise in handling donor funding, including USAID, UAE, and other funding bodies.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with UWESO’s mission and objectives.

  • Develop and implement an appropriate recruitment plan, Lead the recruitment and onboarding process, ensuring the acquisition of top-tier talent.

  • Manage employee relations, performance appraisals, and professional development initiatives.

  • Coordinate and facilitate training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of staff.

  • Monitor the implementation and ensure compliance to HR policies, Procedures and processes in line with the HR manual, donor requirements and UWESO policies.

  • Ensure there is proper implementation of all approved Human Resource management policies, procedures, programs and advice line managers in accordance with the human resources manual.

  • Plan and conduct training and development programs to meet identified needs and promote change management in accordance with the organization’s objectives.

  • Compile and disseminate periodic departmental HR reports.

  • Ensure compliance with all labor laws of the country

  • Pay roll management.

  • Career and succession planning for staff, key resource people and positions.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The ideal candidate should have a Bachelor Degree in Human Resource Management, BBA, and BA. Social Sciences or any other related field.

  • A post graduate diploma in Human resource will be an added advantage.

  • At least three years’ experience in the Human Resources Management field, and at least two years’ experience in a senior Human Resource Management position, and in Human Resource strategic planning.

  • In-depth knowledge of labor law and Human Resource best practices

  • Proven experience in Human Resource management within NGOs, specializing in OVC and child care organizations to me it looks not relevant.

  • Demonstrated success in managing donor funded projects.

  • Thorough understanding of HR best practices, local employment laws, and compliance requirements.

  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.

  • A member of the Human Resource Managers’ Association of Uganda, (HRMAU).
