Light for the world in partnership with Mastercard Foundation associate program and Uganda Breweries Limited are offering a 12 months paid work placement to graduates with disabilities in Uganda.

Administrative Support:

  • Document Management: Maintaining and organizing employee records, both physical and digital.

  • Correspondence: Handling HR-related correspondence, including emails, letters, and memos.

  • Data Entry: Inputting and updating employee information in HR databases and systems.


Recruitment and Onboarding:

  • Job Postings: Assisting with the creation and posting of job advertisements on various platforms.

  • Scheduling Interviews: Coordinating and scheduling interviews between candidates and hiring managers.

  • Onboarding: Assisting with the onboarding process, including preparing new hire paperwork and conducting orientation sessions.


Employee Relations:

  • Communication: Acting as a point of contact for employee inquiries about HR policies, benefits, and procedures.

  • Conflict Resolution: Assisting in resolving minor employee issues or escalating them to HR managers as needed.


Benefits Administration:

  • Benefits Enrollment: Assisting employees with benefits enrollment and answering questions about benefit plans.

  • Records Management: Maintaining records of benefits enrollments, changes, and terminations.


Payroll Support:

  • Timekeeping: Assisting with tracking employee attendance and timekeeping records.

  • Payroll Processing: Supporting payroll processing by preparing and verifying payroll documents.


Training and Development:

  • Training Coordination: Scheduling and coordinating training sessions and employee development programs.

  • Materials Preparation: Preparing training materials and maintaining records of employee training.


Compliance and Reporting:

  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring HR practices comply with federal, state, and local regulations.

  • Reporting: Preparing reports on HR metrics, such as employee turnover, absenteeism, and training participation.


Event Coordination:

  • Company Events: Assisting in organizing and coordinating company events, meetings, and employee recognition programs.


Health and Safety:

  • Policy Implementation: Assisting in the implementation and monitoring of health and safety policies.

  • Incident Reporting: Recording and reporting workplace incidents and accidents.

Education:

  • High School Diploma: At a minimum, a high school diploma or equivalent is required.

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree: Many employers prefer candidates with an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field.


Skills:

  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with employees and preparing documents.

  • Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational abilities to manage records, schedules, and multiple tasks.

  • Attention to Detail: High attention to detail for accurate data entry and documentation.

  • Interpersonal Skills: Good interpersonal skills to handle employee relations and provide customer service.

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in using HR software, payroll systems, and office applications like Microsoft Office.


Certification (Optional but Beneficial):

  • Professional in Human Resources (PHR): Certification offered by the HR Certification Institute (HRCI).

  • SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP): Certification offered by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).


Experience:

  • Internships/Entry-Level Positions: Gaining practical experience through internships or entry-level positions in HR can be advantageous.

  • On-the-Job Training: Many HR Assistants receive on-the-job training to familiarize them with company-specific policies and procedures.


Ethical Standards:

  • Confidentiality: Maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information with discretion.

  • Professional Conduct: Demonstrating professionalism and integrity in all HR tasks and interactions.
