Job Description

Reporting to the Head of Health Information Systems, the Health Information System Analyst will be responsible for maintaining and updating clinical dictionaries, ensuring data accuracy, and developing operational and clinical reports. The role will involve collaboration with multiple hospital departments—clinical, IT, and administrative—to ensure optimal use of the EHR system for patient care and performance monitoring.

The incumbent will also support EHR/ERP implementation across regional hospitals, provide staff training on dictionary management, and develop customized reporting dashboards. This role demands strong analytical skills, high attention to detail, and the ability to translate complex healthcare data into practical insights that enhance hospital efficiency and compliance.

How to Apply

A. EHR Dictionary Management

  • Maintain and update clinical terminologies and dictionaries, including diagnosis, procedures, lab tests, and medications.

  • Ensure dictionaries reflect current medical standards, regulatory requirements, and hospital protocols.

  • Conduct audits of EHR dictionaries to maintain data accuracy and compliance.

  • Collaborate with IT and EHR vendors on dictionary updates, version control, and issue resolution.

B. Reporting and Data Analysis

  • Design, automate, and maintain operational, clinical, and compliance reports using Advanced Excel and Power BI.

  • Analyze hospital performance indicators, patient utilization trends, and quality metrics.

  • Collaborate with management teams to create dashboards and reporting tools for data-driven decisions.

C. EHR/ERP Implementation Support (Mombasa & Kisumu)

  • Lead development of dictionaries for financial and clinical modules during system rollout.

  • Conduct staff training on dictionary management and reporting tools.

  • Customize and replicate reports for new hospital sites to ensure operational consistency.

D. Collaboration and Training

  • Liaise with Health Information Management (HIM), Clinical, and IT departments to enhance data integrity.

  • Train end-users on dictionary functions, reporting processes, and EHR system utilization.

  • Document and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) related to EHR configuration and reporting.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Health Informatics, Health Information Management, Information Technology, or related field.

  • Professional qualifications such as ACCA, CPA, or ACMA are an added advantage.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a health information systems or healthcare IT environment.

  • Proven expertise in Advanced Excel (pivot tables, macros, Power Query) and Power BI for reporting and visualization.

  • Hands-on experience with hospital EHR systems (preferably Meditech).

  • Familiarity with SQL or other data querying languages.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data management skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for cross-departmental collaboration.

  • Deep understanding of hospital financial systems and healthcare data privacy standards.

  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and organizational efficiency.

  • Ability to train others and manage system documentation effectively.
