Credit Policy Development: Develop and implement credit policies, procedures, and guidelines in alignment with the organization's risk tolerance, financial objectives, and industry best practices.
Credit Risk Assessment: Assess the creditworthiness of customers, clients, or borrowers by analyzing financial statements, credit reports, payment histories, and other relevant information.
Credit Approval Process: Establish credit approval criteria and decision-making processes for extending credit to customers or clients. Review credit applications, evaluate risk factors, and approve credit limits within established guidelines.
Credit Monitoring and Control: Monitor and track customer credit exposures, credit utilization, and payment behaviors to identify potential credit risks and proactively manage credit exposure.
Collections Management: Oversee the collections process to ensure timely and effective collection of outstanding debts. Develop collection strategies, techniques, and tactics to recover overdue payments while maintaining positive customer relationships.
Delinquency Management: Manage delinquent accounts and past-due balances by implementing collection efforts, negotiating repayment terms, and escalating collection actions as necessary.
Credit Reporting and Analysis: Generate credit reports, aging analyses, and performance metrics to track credit portfolio quality, delinquency rates, and collection effectiveness. Provide insights and recommendations based on credit performance data.
Customer Communication: Communicate with customers regarding overdue payments, payment arrangements, and resolution of account discrepancies. Handle customer inquiries, disputes, and complaints related to credit and collections matters.
Legal Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards governing credit and collections activities, including fair debt collection practices, consumer protection laws, and data privacy regulations.
Relationship Management: Build and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders, including sales, finance, and customer service teams, to facilitate collaboration and alignment on credit and collections strategies.
Vendor Management: Manage relationships with external vendors, such as collection agencies, credit bureaus, and legal counsel, to support collections efforts and leverage specialized expertise as needed.
Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics related to credit and collections performance, such as days sales outstanding (DSO), bad debt ratios, and collection rates. Prepare regular reports and presentations for senior management review.
Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and efficiency enhancements within the credit and collections function. Implement best practices and technology solutions to streamline workflows and optimize performance.
Training and Development: Provide training, coaching, and professional development opportunities to credit and collections staff to build skills, enhance performance, and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
Risk Mitigation: Develop and implement strategies to mitigate credit risks, minimize bad debt losses, and improve overall credit portfolio performance. Implement credit risk mitigation techniques such as credit insurance, collateralization, and credit derivatives.
