Head, Procurement job at Mastercard Foundation

Reporting to the Head of Shared Services, the Head of Procurement will play a pivotal role in building a robust procurement infrastructure across the Foundation. With oversight of more than $100 million in spend, this role includes sourcing strategic suppliers, creating preferred vendor frameworks, developing procurement systems, and improving organizational procurement capacity through coaching, training, and communication. The role requires strong leadership, negotiation skills, technological fluency, and cross-cultural collaboration capabilities.

  • Design and communicate a change process to establish the procurement function

  • Develop and implement procurement policies, strategies, and control mechanisms

  • Establish and manage a preferred supplier database and contract management system

  • Conduct market and supplier research to inform sourcing and vendor strategies

  • Build and maintain relationships with suppliers and negotiate key contracts

  • Evaluate and implement technology platforms like Workday and ServiceNow

  • Develop training programs and communications to educate internal teams on procurement

  • Oversee strategic procurement and advise on tactical purchasing and contract execution

  • Ensure compliance with relevant tax, legal, and procurement regulations

  • Identify supply chain risks and mitigation strategies

  • Use data analytics to track procurement KPIs and support decision-making

Education and Certification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field

  • Membership in a relevant professional procurement or supply chain body

Experience and Skills:

  • Minimum of 10 years in procurement, preferably within large-scale organizations

  • International procurement experience with proven negotiation and vendor management skills

  • Knowledge of ERP systems like Workday and tools like ServiceNow

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis

  • Familiarity with contract lifecycle and risk management best practices

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and cross-cultural collaboration skills

  • High integrity, adaptability, and sound business acumen
