It was established under Section 42 of the Petroleum (Exploration, Development, and Production) Act and Section 7 of the Petroleum (Refining, Conversion, Transmission and Midstream Storage) Act, both of 2013. Job Description
The Uganda National Oil Company (UNOC) Limited was established under the Petroleum (Exploration, Development and Production) Act and the Petroleum (Refining, Conversion, Transmission and Midstream storage) Act, both of 2013 and incorporated under the Companies' Act, 2012. It is a limited liability company wholly owned by the Government of Uganda.
The overall function of UNOC is to handle the State's commercial interests in the Oil and Gas industry and en- sure that the resource is exploited in a sustainable manner.
UNOC is offering Graduate Internship opportunities for a maximum of six (6) months - non-renewable contract to recent graduates interested in starting a career in an Oil and Gas industry.
Duties and Responsibilities
Sourcing Strategy Development: Developing and implementing sourcing strategies aligned with organizational goals and objectives. This may involve identifying potential suppliers, evaluating their capabilities, and selecting the most suitable ones based on factors such as cost, quality, reliability, and sustainability.
Supplier Relationship Management: Cultivating and maintaining positive relationships with suppliers to ensure smooth and reliable supply chain operations. This includes negotiating contracts, managing supplier performance, resolving disputes, and collaborating on continuous improvement initiatives.
Procurement Planning: Collaborating with internal stakeholders to forecast demand, assess requirements, and develop procurement plans that ensure timely availability of goods and services while optimizing inventory levels and minimizing costs.
Market Research and Analysis: Conducting market research and analysis to stay informed about industry trends, market dynamics, supplier capabilities, and pricing fluctuations. This information helps procurement professionals make informed decisions and identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
Supplier Selection and Evaluation: Identifying potential suppliers, issuing requests for proposals (RFPs) or requests for quotations (RFQs), evaluating supplier proposals, and selecting the most suitable suppliers based on predefined criteria such as price, quality, delivery lead times, and supplier capabilities.
Contract Management: Negotiating, drafting, and managing contracts with suppliers to establish clear terms and conditions, including pricing, payment terms, delivery schedules, quality standards, and performance metrics. Contract management also involves monitoring compliance, enforcing contract terms, and addressing deviations or issues as they arise.
Risk Management: Identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks associated with the procurement process, including supply chain disruptions, supplier financial instability, geopolitical risks, quality issues, and regulatory compliance risks. This may involve implementing risk mitigation strategies, diversifying the supplier base, and developing contingency plans.
Cost Management: Analyzing costs across the procurement process to identify opportunities for cost reduction, cost avoidance, and cost containment. This includes negotiating favorable pricing with suppliers, optimizing inventory levels, streamlining procurement processes, and leveraging economies of scale.
Quality Assurance: Establishing and maintaining quality standards for procured goods and services to ensure they meet or exceed organizational requirements and customer expectations. This involves conducting supplier audits, performing quality inspections, and implementing corrective actions when necessary.
Ethical and Sustainable Procurement: Promoting ethical and sustainable procurement practices by ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards related to labor practices, environmental stewardship, and social responsibility. This may involve evaluating suppliers' ethical and sustainability practices, incorporating sustainability criteria into supplier selection processes, and fostering transparency and accountability throughout the supply chain.

Qualifications and Competencies
Bachelor's Degree(Hons) in Procurement, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration(Procurement) or any other related field
Key Requirements
Must provide a copy of University Degree Transcript obtained from a recognized University i.e. (Bachelor's Degree).
Must have a minimum of a 2nd class upper degree, with a minimum CGPA of 4.0.
Must have scored a minimum of a Credit in Mathematics and English subjects at Ordinary Level (O' level).
Must have graduated not more than three years from the time of applying for this opportunity.
