Job Description
As a Front-end Developer, you’ll be instrumental in building advanced single-page applications that prioritize usability, performance, and maintainability. You will work within a small, distributed team of highly skilled developers in a relaxed, non-corporate atmosphere. You’ll need advanced knowledge of JavaScript and CSS, a passion for good UX practices, and familiarity with modern front-end frameworks. Experience with Ember.js or a willingness to learn it is required.
The role includes developing responsive visualizations, inspecting performance bottlenecks, and occasionally contributing to backend code (e.g., Ruby on Rails). Candidates should be disciplined, self-motivated, and excited about working independently in a flexible, remote-first environment.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Develop and maintain advanced Single Page Applications (SPAs)
Create maintainable CSS structures and apply layout libraries like Bootstrap or Tailwind CSS
Design and implement responsive, user-friendly interfaces with strong UX focus
Inspect and address browser performance issues
Write unit and integration tests to ensure code quality
Participate in Slack-based daily communications and weekly planning calls
Collaborate in Kanban-based workflow management
Occasionally work on back-end tasks (Ruby on Rails)
Be attentive to system operations and production issues

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Must-Have:
Advanced knowledge of JavaScript
Advanced knowledge of CSS and layout libraries (e.g., Bootstrap, Tailwind CSS)
Solid UX design intuition
Experience with Ember.js or strong willingness to learn
Experience writing front-end unit and integration tests
Nice-to-Have:
Experience with charting libraries like Highcharts
Experience with SVG, D3, or other visualization tools
Experience with Ruby on Rails
Portfolio of personal projects or open-source contributions
