Job Description
The Forklift Driver supports day-to-day materials handling for mining and processing operations. You will conduct pre-shift equipment checks, maneuver forklifts in busy yards and warehouses, load/unload trucks and containers, transfer raw and finished materials, and keep accurate movement logs. The role requires strict adherence to safety procedures, housekeeping standards, radio/hand-signal communication, and collaboration with warehouse, maintenance, and production teams to meet dispatch schedules.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Operate counterbalance/industrial forklifts to load, unload, stack, and stage pallets, crates, and bulk materials.
Perform pre-start inspections; report defects and coordinate basic preventive care (battery/fuel, tires, forks).
Move materials between receiving, storage, production, and dispatch zones per pick lists/job tickets.
Secure loads and use proper rigging/attachments where required.
Maintain accurate movement logs, tags, and basic inventory tallies.
Follow traffic plans, speed limits, spotter guidance, and radio/hand-signal protocols.
Keep aisles, racks, and loading bays clear; uphold 5S/housekeeping standards.
Support truck turnarounds—dock alignment, chocking, loading sequence, and documentation hand-off.
Escalate hazards, near misses, and equipment issues; participate in toolbox talks and HSE drills.
Assist warehouse/yard staff with general duties when not driving.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Experience: 5–15 years’ proven forklift driving experience (required).
Valid forklift operator certification/license; strong knowledge of safe lifting and load limits.
Ability to handle heavy/oversized loads in tight spaces and on uneven yard surfaces.
Working knowledge of warehouse paperwork, basic inventory counts, and radio use.
Physically fit; able to work shifts, weekends, and overtime as operations demand.
Safety-first mindset, situational awareness, and clear communication with spotters/supervisors.
