Job Description
The Finance Officer will ensure timely and accurate execution of payment processes, including petty cash, imprest, payroll dispatch, and statutory deductions. The role involves maintaining accounts payable and receivable ledgers, reconciling supplier accounts, preparing payables and expense reports, and managing vendor relationships. The officer will ensure compliance with tax regulations, facilitate audits by maintaining proper records, and support payroll processing. Additionally, the officer will provide financial reports, maintain payment registries, and demonstrate strong risk awareness and adherence to financial controls.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Manage petty cash and imprest, ensuring timely replenishment and month-end balancing.
Accurately compute and remit statutory deductions and taxes on time.
Prepare weekly and monthly payables and expense reports.
Maintain updated accounts payable and receivable records.
Prepare ageing analysis of payables and reconcile supplier statements.
Ensure proper custody and filing of payment documents (invoices, POs, receipts).
Maintain the accounting registry for payments.
Track and update tax accounts to ensure timely compliance and reporting.
Support audit processes by preparing documentation and schedules.
Receive invoices, verify documentation, and record them in the system.
Record payments and receipts in ledgers promptly.
Prepare vouchers for approved payments and facilitate cheque/bank disbursements.
Dispatch payroll and maintain organized records.
Maintain vendor relationships and resolve payment issues.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor’s degree in Commerce (Accounting/Finance option) or related field from a recognized institution.
Professional qualification in accounting (CPA Intermediate level, ACCA Level II, or equivalent).
Minimum of 4 years’ relevant experience in pension or accounting industry.
Strong knowledge of accounting software and ERP systems.
Expertise in budgeting, budgetary controls, and financial reporting.
Strong interpersonal and cross-cultural skills with sensitivity to diversity and inclusion.
High attention to detail, analytical and problem-solving skills.
Good oral and written communication skills.
Professionalism, integrity, and customer service orientation.
Action-oriented, innovative, and able to manage priorities under pressure.
Risk awareness and knowledge of financial control practices.
