Job Description
Reporting to the Head of Finance, the Finance Lead will oversee the financial operations within the Higher Education portfolio. This role involves managing the full cycle of program partner financial contracts, conducting due diligence, monitoring disbursements, ensuring compliance with Canadian and local regulations, guiding partners on financial management, and offering insights to support strategic decisions. The role also requires leadership in internal financial planning, managing a team of analysts/interns, and working closely with legal and compliance teams to align program execution with global standards.

How to Apply
Oversee finance processes from partner engagement through program completion.
Conduct financial reviews and monitor budget utilization.
Provide financial guidance on taxation, accounting, and regulatory compliance.
Ensure timely funding disbursement and financial control systems.
Train and support partners on financial reporting and compliance.
Maintain updated and accurate financial records and projections.
Ensure system compliance and data integrity for all programs.
Lead due diligence and risk assessments for partners.
Provide financial insights and forecasting for strategic decision-making.
Prepare monthly reports on financial status, commitments, and disbursements.
Manage and mentor finance analysts and interns.
Engage stakeholders and regional partners for good financial governance.
Education & Certification:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (MBA is an advantage).
Professional accounting qualification (e.g., CPA, ACCA) and membership in a recognized body.
Experience:
Minimum of 10 years in financial roles, with at least 3–5 years in a leadership position.
Experience in the development or NGO sector is an added advantage.
Skills & Competencies:
Strong knowledge of financial reporting, forecasting, and internal controls.
Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills.
Risk management and due diligence capabilities.
Understanding of international accounting standards.
Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
Strong leadership and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and adapt to changing priorities.
Fluent in English; French proficiency is an asset.
High professional integrity and cultural sensitivity.
